SAFE AT HOME

The Farmington Community Foundation is pursuing the “Safe at Home”program to help elderly and vulnerable adults in the Farmington community to remain safe in their homes. The program is being delivered through a partnership with the Farmington Fire Department and other nonprofits, to ensure that elderly and vulnerable adults have functional smoke detectors in their residence.
COMMUNITY SAFETY

An estimated 350,000 people in the United States experience cardiac arrest outside of a medical facility. Three things can improve survival rates: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR), an AED and CPR/AED training. An AED typically ranges in price between $1,400 and$2,500. Even if a private business can absorb that expense, they still need to make sure someone knows how to use it.
With that in mind, the Farmington Community Foundation partnered with the Allina Health Foundation and Heart Safe Communities to provide an AED unit and staff training to the Bourbon Butcher, a restaurant in Farmington.
FOOD SECURITY

Ensuring every person in Farmington has enough to eat is essential—but it’s not always easy. Many who need support most can’t access food shelves during limited hours. That’s why the Farmington Community Foundation is partnering with the Open Door Pantry to introduce outdoor refrigerated food lockers, offering flexible, convenient access for our hardest-to-reach neighbors. This proven model is gaining traction nationwide, and Farmington will be among the first communities in Minnesota to use it to help close a critical food security gap.
